Beyond the Hype of AI: What Actually Delivers Value in Strategic Sourcing

Written by

AI has been a hot topic in procurement throughout 2024, with vendors - ourselves included - making bold claims about its transformative power. And rightly so. But beyond the buzz and bold claims, what actually works? That’s the key question we’re exploring at Elevate, our 2025 event series, which will take place in cities worldwide, including Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, New York, and more.

At Archlet, we started working with AI long before LLMs like OpenAI’s products gained traction - not (only) to follow trends, but to uncover where AI truly adds value. When LLMs emerged, we saw incredible potential, but we knew that excitement alone wasn’t enough. Through extensive experimentation, product launches, and over a dozen hands-on workshops with customers - where we tested, iterated, and rapidly prototyped AI use cases in Sourcing - we learned a key lesson: AI is not a silver bullet. Instead, we see it as an enabler - one that, when applied thoughtfully, is already transforming sourcing today and will continue to redefine procurement in the years ahead.

Those who don’t adapt and explore AI use cases will eventually fall behind.

AI as an Enabler, Not Just a Trend

One of AI’s most impactful applications in sourcing comes - no surprise - from Large Language Models (LLMs) like OpenAI’s GPT. These models simplify how users interact with complex software, making advanced sourcing technology more accessible. Instead of requiring deep expertise, LLMs enable natural language interactions, lowering barriers to adoption and empowering more stakeholders to engage with sophisticated tools.

But AI’s potential goes beyond simplifying interfaces. Agentic AI is set to transform procurement by automating tasks, suggesting supplier awards, and accelerating decision-making. Imagine a tool that doesn’t just analyze data but actively executes sourcing processes, freeing teams to focus on strategy rather than admin work.

Archlet Elevate: Moving AI from Hype to Reality

This shift from AI hype to real value is the focus of Elevate, Archlet’s event series. We’re bringing procurement leaders and industry experts together to discuss where AI truly transforms sourcing - and where it doesn’t. Expect real-world use cases, hands-on insights, and practical AI applications that make a difference.

If you’re ready to move beyond buzzwords and toward real impact in strategic sourcing, Elevate is where you need to be.

Why Attend Elevate?

Elevate is designed for CPOs, Heads of Supply Chain, and sourcing professionals looking to learn, connect, and exchange ideas. Attendees will:

  • Hear real-world examples of AI-driven sourcing decisions from Archlet’s customers.
  • Engage with procurement leaders driving digital transformation.
  • Learn practical strategies to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Build valuable connections with industry peers.

This year’s theme, "Beyond the Hype: How Data & AI Actually Add Value for Digital Sourcing," will shape discussions and insights.

The Future of Procurement

Procurement teams are expected to drive savings, build resilience, and create sustainable supply chains - but many lack the right tools. Technology is becoming a key enabler, especially for lean teams looking to scale impact efficiently. At Archlet, we focus on making sourcing easier, smarter, and more transparent without unnecessary complexity.
